CREEI Attends 2015 World Hydropower Conference

On May 19, 2015, the 2015 World Hydropower Conference was opened in Huairou Yanqi Lake Hotel in Beijing, with the theme of “Shaping the future and promoting the sustainable development of hydropower”. This was the first time that the World Hydropower Conference was held in China. Mr. Zheng Sheng’an, Director General of CREEI, Mr. Gu Hongbin, Deputy Director General of CREEI, and Mr. Gong Heping, Deputy Director General of CREEI, as special guests, represented CREEI to attend the conference and discussed hydropower development with more than 340 foreign representatives and more than 400 domestic representatives.

CREEI has a history of more than 60 years, engaged in studies and researches on the industrial policies, planning and technologies of new energy including hydropower, wind power and solar power generation in China, and providing high-end technical services such as project consulting and review, as the administration of hydropower and new energy industry, the national hydropower technology research center, the national renewable energy information administration, the national renewable energy project quality supervisor, and the large map partner for the world's renewable energy. With the development of China’s hydropower, CREEI actively conducts policy research and formulates countermeasures in terms of traditional markets and business forms, intensifies planning work, plans and leads the development of related businesses, and was entrusted by NDRC to organize and implement hydropower plans for more than 40 rivers including the Jinsha River, the Yalong River and the Dadu River, and conduct the review of the national hydraulic resources. In 2014, China put forward the Belt and Road Initiative and proposed the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as a useful complement. CREEI seized opportunities in international business, organized the energy cooperation and planning for CPEC, completed the first phase of the energy cooperation research along the Bangladesh-China-Myanmar Economic Corridor and the overall planning for Sino-Myanmar power cooperation, and provided technical support for governmental decision-making.

At the 2015 World Hydropower Conference, CREEI actively displayed the achievements of China’s hydropower construction, publicized the power of China’s hydropower industry, built an international image of China’s hydropower industry brand, enhanced its national competitiveness, and promoted the goal of going out of China’s entire industrial chain of hydropower. Meanwhile, China Reform News, Energy News and other media interviewed and reported the leading example of CREEI in China's hydropower industry, and showed CREEI on exhibition boards at the World Hydropower Conference. All these were designed to promote the large-scale and orderly development of clean energy such as hydropower and wind power, and create clean energy and benefit humanity.
